Daniel and his friends knew that they were chosen to eventually be leaders in Babylon. Out of all the cream of the crop from Judah, some would get the honored positions while others may end up in mere middle management as some department head.

Did Daniel and his friends try to get to the top by playing their cards right with the chief official?

The only thing Daniel did was “resolved not to defile himself.”

From there, God did the rest. God “caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel.” God made their bodies healthy on vegetables and water alone. God “gave them knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning.”

If we do things God’s way, even if it seems like we are getting the short end of the stick, God will come through for us.

Keep doing what is right. No worries.
