My son moved into an off-campus living arrangement last night, entering his junior year in college.

“Did you pack your school supplies? Your ID and keys? Shampoo and soap? Contact lens solution? Toothpaste?”

The car was loaded down with boxes full of college-student necessities, from toilet bowl cleaner (I hope he will actually use it) to bean bag chair.

Then my son called me this morning:

“Mom, I forgot to bring socks. I’m wearing the ones from yesterday.”

That’s hilarious 🙂 I love my son.

As Girls Guide to Geek describes it, my son is definitely “a man of substance, quietude and stability, a cerebral creature with a culture all his own. In short, a geek.”

It is vogue to be a geek now, I don’t have to worry about him any more. I just hope a nice girl will take care of him one day, someone who understands and appreciates him.

Again from Girls Guide to Geek, “If you can hang with the techno-lifestyle, [geeks] make the best mates. They are the most attractive people, not flashy or hunky, but the kind who get cuter and more alluring over time.”

Socks really only need to be changed once a week… That’s been my philosophy anyway. :p

Nat, I hope you provide noseclips for your roommates!
