Does this happen to you?

As soon as you say you will try to do something, like be more patient, or really keep your room clean, or be nice to your brother, you are immediately tested in that area, and you fail at it more than you usually do.

I think I figured out why that is.

As soon as I make a resolution to change, I am thinking I am going to do it with my own efforts, on my own resolve. God allows me to be tested and allows me to fail in order for me to realize even with my best intention and utmost effort, I can not be good with my own efforts. My failure brings me to my knees to say, “God, I want to be good for you, but I just can’t. I realize again why Jesus had to die. I am sinning everyday, even when I try my best not to. Thank you, Jesus, for the salvation you’ve given me.”

This leads me to love Jesus more, and depend on the Holy Spirit’s work in my life. It is no longer I, but Christ living in me.

Lesson learned here is, failure is meant to drive us to love and trust God.

Once Again
(Matt Redman)
Jesus Christ, I think upon your sacrifice
You became nothing, poured out to death
Many times I’ve wondered at Your gift of life
And I’m in that place once again
I’m in that place once again
Once again I look upon the cross where You died
I’m humbled by Your mercy and I’m broken inside
Once again I thank You
Once gain I pour out my life
Now you are exalted to the highest place
King of heavens, where one day I’ll bow
But for now I marvel at this saving grace
And I’m full of praise once again
And I’m full of praise once again
Once again I look upon the cross where You died
I’m humbled by Your mercy and I’m broken inside
Once again I thank You
Once gain I pour out my life
Thank You for the cross
Thank You for the cross
Thank You for the cross
My Friend.
