Another 49-cent movie yesterday – we watched Memoirs of a Geisha. I read the book a while back, and knew what to expect. I don’t like to be surprised in movies. I am scared of surprises and bad endings. The movie was nicely done. The cruel and sex parts of the books were not overplayed, which was good.
No matter how good the movie, the book is always better. A movie just cannot develop the depth of characters like a book can. I always much rather read the book than see the movie. The exception is when they write a book based on a movie. Those books are always bad.
