I went TWICE to the County Fair this year!

A week ago, I went with Audrey, just the 2 of us. We enjoyed a little time together before she moved into her dorm at UCLA. It was a Thursday with hardly any traffic and no lines at the food stands. Can you believe it, I forgot to bring a camera.

Yesterday was the last day of the Fair. I got to go again! This time with my husband, just the 2 of us. We enjoyed a date together, all this the compliments of Theresa who gave us free tickets including free parking – Thank You, Theresa! 🙂

This is what you can expect from the Fair every year:

1. Every imaginable fried foods – fried s’mores, fried avocado, fried waffles, fried apples, even fried Coke. Each year we try a different coronary-killer delight. This year, we succumbed to the temptation with a Mexican funnel cake – fried churros sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, topped with real whipped cream and strawberry sauce! We added caramel sauce and a little bit of fudge sauce too. Oh Yeah! There’s more. We counted ourselves lucky that they ran out of churros right before our order because we got the new batch of fried churros hot right out of the fryer, dripping with oil. Definitely worth a few clogged arteries, don’t you think?

2. Coming home smelling like BBQ smoke and cigarette smoke. There’s BBQ turkey legs, BBQ corn, BBQ hot dogs, BBQ sausages, BBQ pork, BBQ beef, etc., etc.

3. Free samples of beef jerky and Sparkletts water. On a hot day, there is a big great around the coolers for a cup of refreshing Sparkletts water. I wonder how many people actually sign up for home delivery service. I am sure they lose money on people like us every year.

4. Wondering how some little kid’s scribbles won First Place in the Educational Expo. We also saw some really amazing paintings in the 12-17 year-old category.

5. Seeing lots of fat people eating 1/2 pound hot dogs, gigantic turkey legs, a huge mound of chili cheese curly fries, and BBQ corn loaded with mayo….they are not fat for nothing.

6. Beautiful garden displays with lots of sweet smelling flowers.

  3. Nat Says:

Those churros look good… but I’d feel so guilty about doing that to my body. 🙁 Haha.

Nat, when you get to my age, you will have the license to do whatever you want with your body! I figured, I only have 20 more good years left, what the heck!
