I was thinking over my past as I was washing dishes.

What do people usually regret about their past?

They usually do not say, “I am glad I was mean to people. I wished I had treated people worst. I wish I didn’t have so many friends and people who care about me!”

People usually regret the opposite, right? “I should have treated so-and-so better. I wish I had taken more time to get to know people.”, etc.

Yet while we have the opportunity, we do not usually take the chance to do that nice thing that we might one day regret not doing. We selfishly live for ourselves.
So let me be reminded: Carpe Diem. Seize the moment to be kind, to do the right thing, to put aside selfishness. I won’t regret it.
