Thanks for that info, Linda. I wonder if the condo prices will appreciate when it's resold, and if there are other yachts in the works.

THE WORLD IS SOLD-OUT
The World, the only existing residential community at sea is now sold-out, James St. John III, President of ResidenSea Ltd, the management company behind the vessel, announced today, July 27, 2006. According to St. John, the final few residences aboard the 165-home vessel were recently purchased, completing the sale of the inventory. The world's largest private yacht is now owned by its Residents, free and clear of any debt. While original inventory sales are complete, there will still be two ways to experience life aboard The World. First, currently owned homes may become available for re-sale. As is the case with most private vacation communities, St. John says he expects the vessel may have five to 10 percent of its homes available for resale at any given time. In fact, several Residents recently purchased larger residences while others have purchased additional homes onboard. The current rental program, operated by the management company ResidenSea, will also continue to offer Guests an opportunity to rent private residences aboard the vessel for minimum six night stays (rates ranging from $1,200 to $5,000 per residence, per night, including most meals and beverages, port charges, gratuities and taxes). The rental program has been vital to achieving sold out status as many rental guests have since purchased homes aboard the vessel. The sales, marketing, operations and administration of The World continue to be managed by ResidenSea Ltd. (ResidenSea Ltd., www.aboardtheworld.com, July 2006)

Thanks for your comment. Living in a condo at sea would be interesting wouldn't it? But I don't think this idea has caught on.
